According to the NEHGR Vol.3 pg. 65, he landed in Boston and took the Freemans oath there 2 Nov 1637. Marriage - No mention of a wife is made in the reference, but 3 children are named with birthdates. Death - According to the source there isn't any evidence that Nathaniel moved from Massachusetts; so he undoubtedly died there. No date is known. She married Leonard Smart on November 27, 1937 in Independence. He died in April 1965. She was a clerk in the Black Hawk County treasurer's office from 1966 to 1971, retiring due to health reasons. She was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church. Survived by one son, William L. (Nancy Hart) of Waterloo; three brothers, Chuck (Ann) Swartz of Chicago Hieights, Illinois, Carl (Nell) Swartz of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Darrell Swartz of Sanborn; and one sister, Georgia Secor of Waterloo. Preceded in death by one brother, LeRoy Swartz; and one sister, Beverly Stedman. Services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home with burial in Waterloo memorial Park Cemetery.
